CP metasurfaced antennas excited by LP sources

TLDR
In this article, a metasurface which is considered as a polarizer for microwave antennas is proposed and preliminary results have shown that circularly polarized (CP) radiation can be obtained from linearly polarized (LP) source antennas with the use of metasuran surface, antenna performance such as realized gain, efficiency and bandwidth are improved simultaneously.
Abstract
A metasurface which is considered as a polarizer for microwave antennas is proposed in this paper. Preliminary results have shown that circularly polarized (CP) radiation can be obtained from linearly polarized (LP) source antennas with the use of metasurface, antenna performance such as realized gain, efficiency and bandwidth are improved simultaneously. The metasurfaced antennas have a succinct non-resonant cavity in sub-wavelength (1/13 λ 0 ) format.

Linear-to-Circular Polarization Conversion Using Metasurface

TL;DR: In this article, a metasurface (MS) is used to convert the linearly polarized (LP) signal from a source antenna into a circularly polarized (CP) signal.

Low-Profile Wideband Metasurface Antennas Using Characteristic Mode Analysis

TL;DR: In this article, a metasurface (MTS) antenna is proposed for low-profile and wideband operation based on characteristic mode analysis (CMA), where an MTS radiator formed by a diamond-slotted patch is fed by a microstrip line at its bottom through a slot centered on a ground plane.

Design of Polarization Reconfigurable Antenna Using Metasurface

TL;DR: In this article, a planar polarization-reconfigurable metasurface antenna (PRMS) is proposed to operate at around 3.5 GHz with high-polarization isolation of larger than 15 dB.

Frequency-Reconfigurable Antenna Using Metasurface

TL;DR: In this paper, a frequency-reconfigurable antenna designed using metasurface (MS) to operate at around 5 GHz is proposed and studied. But the MS placed atop the patch antenna behaves like a dielectric substrate and rotating the MS changes the equivalent relative permittivity of the substrate and hence the operating frequency of the FRMS antenna.

A Single-Layer Circular Polarizer Based on Hybrid Meander Line and Loop Configuration

TL;DR: In this article, a linear-to-circular polarizer was proposed to transform linearly polarized field to circularly polarized field over a wide frequency band. But the proposed polarizer is robust under oblique and deflected illuminations.

Reflection and transmission properties of a metafilm: with an application to a controllable surface composed of resonant particles

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived generalized sheet transition conditions (GSTCs) for the average (or "macroscopic") electromagnetic fields across a metafilm, which, when properly designed, can have certain desired reflection and transmission properties.

A discussion on the interpretation and characterization of metafilms/metasurfaces: The two-dimensional equivalent of metamaterials

TL;DR: In this article, an appropriate interpretation and characterization of metafilms and a retrieval approach for determining the uniquely defined quantities (the electric and magnetic susceptibilities of its constituent scatterers) are presented.

A metamaterial surface for compact cavity resonators

TL;DR: In this paper, a metamaterial surface is formed by a thin dielectric slab on both sides of which "gangbuster" dipoles are printed inside a 1D cavity resonator, which has the effect of decreasing the resonant frequency.

Diamagnetic metasurfaces for performance enhancement of microstrip patch antennas

TL;DR: In this article, a cost-effective solution for enhanced performance of microstrip patch antennas is proposed, where the squarering type metasurfaces are introduced and proved to have diamagnetic characteristics by using two retrieval methods.
