The governance approach to political science yields a new perspective on the role of the state, domestically as well as in the international arena. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used path dependence and administrative traditions to analyze the regulatory state in the Nordic countries and found that Nordic countries, traditionally not belonging to the Anglo-Saxon market-centred administrative tradition, ranked so high as users of the Market-Type Mechanism (MTM) of outsourcing in the public sector versus in-house provision of services.
