From Contemplation to Action: Mechanisms of Change in the Mentoring Academy
TL;DR: The authors explored how 23 mentors used newly learned information to change their communication styles and develop shared expectations with mentees, based on an inductive analysis of 46 reflective writing assignments, and found that the mentor academy enabled progress through the stages of contemplation and preparation, however, mentors rarely implemented new knowledge to make changes in their approach to mentoring.

“UDL is the What, Design Thinking is the How:” Designing for Differentiation in Mathematics
TL;DR: In this article, a 6-week summer course for mathematics educators on UDL and design thinking was presented, where participants were asked to share their knowledge of UDL from a passive to an active role, empathy as a central guiding principle, and the potential of using Design Thinking as a process to enact UDL.

The measurement of observer agreement for categorical data
J. R. Landis,Gary G. Koch +1 more
TL;DR: A general statistical methodology for the analysis of multivariate categorical data arising from observer reliability studies is presented and tests for interobserver bias are presented in terms of first-order marginal homogeneity and measures of interob server agreement are developed as generalized kappa-type statistics.
Book
Discovery of Grounded Theory: Strategies for Qualitative Research
TL;DR: The Discovery of Grounded Theory as mentioned in this paper is a book about the discovery of grounded theories from data, both substantive and formal, which is a major task confronting sociologists and is understandable to both experts and laymen.

Qualitative Data Analysis: An Expanded Sourcebook
TL;DR: This book presents a step-by-step guide to making the research results presented in reports, slideshows, posters, and data visualizations more interesting, and describes how coding initiates qualitative data analysis.

A Coefficient of agreement for nominal Scales
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a procedure for having two or more judges independently categorize a sample of units and determine the degree, significance, and significance of the units. But they do not discuss the extent to which these judgments are reproducible, i.e., reliable.
