Do green technology innovations contribute to carbon dioxide emission reduction? Empirical evidence from patent data
Kerui Du,Pengzhen Li,Zheming Yan +2 more
TLDR
In this paper, the authors investigated the impact of green technology innovations on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions based on a data panel covering 71 economies from 1996 to 2012, and found that green technology innovation does not significantly contribute to reducing CO2 emissions for the economies whose income levels are below the threshold while the mitigation effect becomes significant for those whose incomes levels surpass the threshold.About:

How does green finance affect green total factor productivity? Evidence from China
Chi-Chuan Lee,Chien-Chiang Lee +1 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors employed panel data of 30 China's provinces for the period 2006-2018 to explore the influence of green finance on green total factor productivity, revealing estimation results that green finance development significantly improves the level of green productivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
COP21 Roadmap: Do innovation, financial development, and transportation infrastructure matter for environmental sustainability in China?
TL;DR: There is a need to strengthen innovation and transportation infrastructure to achieve environmental sustainability targets and the findings from a wavelet power spectrum reveal that there is a significant vulnerability in innovation, financial development, transportation infrastructure, and CO2 emissions at different time frames and frequencies.

Heterogeneous green innovations and carbon emission performance: Evidence at China's city level
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the impact of green innovation on carbon emission performance based on a panel data set covering 218 prefecture-level cities in China from 2007 to 2013, and they found that green innovation significantly decreases and increases CO 2 emission performance through industrial structure effect and FDI effect, respectively.

How does environmental regulation promote technological innovations in the industrial sector? Evidence from Chinese provincial panel data
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the effect of environmental regulation on technological innovations based on the provincial panel data of industrial sectors in China during the years 2005-2015, and found that industries with a higher degree of market competition and higher human capital investment tend to have stronger technological innovation capabilities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Do technological innovations have symmetric or asymmetric effects on environmental quality? Evidence from Pakistan
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors employed a nonlinear ARDL model to measure the asymmetric and asymmetric effects of technology innovation on carbon emissions for Pakistan and found that the patent (trademark) has negative (positive) short-run symmetric effects on carbon emission.

Environmental Impacts of a North American Free Trade Agreement
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present empirical evidence to assess the relative magnitudes of these three effects as they apply to further trade liberalization in Mexico and investigate whether the size of pollution abatement costs in US industry influences the pattern of international trade and investment.

Threshold effects in non-dynamic panels: Estimation, testing, and inference
TL;DR: In this article, a non-standard asymptotic theory of inference is developed which allows construction of confidence intervals and testing of hypotheses, and the methods are applied to a 15-year sample of 565 US firms to test whether financial constraints affect investment decisions.

Are There Limits to Growth
TL;DR: A simple theoretical model of pollution is developed that generates an inverted U-shape relationship between per capita income and environmental quality as discussed by the authors, which is then used to study long-run growth.

Environmental policy and technological change
TL;DR: The relationship between technological change and environmental policy has received increasing attention from scholars and policy makers alike over the past ten years as discussed by the authors, partly because the environmental impacts of social activity are significantly affected by technological change, and partly because environmental policy interventions themselves create new constraints and incentives that affect the process of technological developments.

CO2 emissions, electricity consumption and output in ASEAN
Hooi Hooi Lean,Russell Smyth +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the causal relationship between carbon dioxide emissions, electricity consumption and economic growth within a panel vector error correction model for five ASEAN countries over the period 1980-2006 was examined.
