Effect of niobia on the defect structure of yttria-stabilized zirconia

TL;DR: In this paper, the defect structure change caused by the additions of Nb2O5 was studied by the positron annihilation technique (PAT), and it was found that the additions can decrease the Vo concentration and increase the (YZrVoY′Zr)x concentration, and possibly decrease the mobility of Vo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sintering behavior of Y-doped ZrO2 ceramics: the effect of Al2O3 and Nb2O5 addition

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of Al 2 O 3 and Nb 2 O 5 addition as the source of +3 and +5 cation dopants in yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Y-TZP) was examined.

Feasibility of an Electrochemical Membrane Reactor for the Partial Oxidation of n-Butane to Maleic Anhydride

TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility of n-butane partial oxidation to maleic anhydride (MA) over vanadium phosphorus oxide catalysts in an electrochemical membrane reactor in which an oxygen-ion-conducting electrolyte was used as the membrane was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Compatibility analyses of BICUVOX.10 as a cathode in yttria-stabilized zirconia electrolytes for usage in solid oxide fuel cells

TL;DR: In this article, a deleterious interaction between BICUVOX.10 and yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolytes was observed, mainly regarding the yttrium depletion from ZrO2 lattice through reaction with VO2.5.

Effect of impurities on sintering and conductivity of yttria-stabilized zirconia

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of low concentrations of Fe2O3, Al 2O3 and Bi2O 3 on the sintering behavior of (ZrO2)083 (YO15)017, made by alkoxide synthesis, has been investigated.

Physical origin of the intrinsic grain-boundary resistivity of stabilized-zirconia: Role of the space-charge layers

TL;DR: In this article, the intrinsic grain-boundary resistivity in stabilized-ZrO 2 was considered to originate from the V O depletion in the space-charge layers, and a model was developed.

Space charge, elastic field, and dipole contributions to equilibrium solute segregation at interfaces

TL;DR: In this article, the minimum free energy and the equilibrium solute and defect distributions in the grain-boundary region were evaluated. And the authors identified the interaction potentials between solute ions and grain boundaries.

An X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study of the surface oxidation of zirconium

TL;DR: The early stages of zirconium oxidation have been investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) as mentioned in this paper, where surface oxidation of pure Zr was carried out at room temperature and 10−8 Torr. The film thickness was estimated to be 15±2 A.
