Effect of diameter ratio on unsteady flow past two side-by-side cylinders at Re = 2000

Abstract
Three-dimensional computations have been performed to study the effect of variation of cylinder size on flow characteristics of two cylinders in side-by-side arrangement. The RANS simulations are performed using the commercial solver, STAR-CCM+®. Effect of variation of diameter ratio (DR) between two cylinders at fixed gap ratio and moderate Reynolds numbers (Re=2000) on hydrodynamic characteristics, such as drag and lift force coefficients as well as wake characteristics, such as Strouhal number (St) has been presented. The coupled interactions between the cylinders in side- by-side arrangements are studied by means of cross-recurrence plots.

Two circular cylinders in cross-flow: A review

TL;DR: The current understanding of the flow around two infinite circular cylinders of equal diameter immersed in a steady cross-flow, with a focus on the near-wake flow patterns, Reynolds number effects, intermediate wake structure and behaviour, and the general trends in the measurements of the aerodynamic force coefficients and Strouhal numbers are reviewed in this paper.

Gap ratio effect on flow characteristics behind side-by-side cylinders of diameter ratio two

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the vortex interaction, the spatial distributions in the flow and the streamwise evolution of the spectral amplitude along the shear layer behind side-by-side cylinders of diameter ratio two at different gap ratios via dye flow visualization and particle image velocimetry (PIV).
