Estimation of the Invariance of Factor Structures Across Sex and Race with Implications for Hypothesis Testing

TLDR
In this article, the problem of demonstrating the invariance of factor structures across criterion groups is addressed and procedures are outlined which combine the replication of factor structure across four sex-race groups with the use of the coefficient of invariance to demonstrate the level of correlation associated with the factors identified in a self concept measure (the Self Observation Scales, Intermediate Form A).
Abstract
The problem of demonstrating the invariance of factor structures across criterion groups is addressed. Procedures are outlined which combine the replication of factor structures across four sex-race groups with the use of the coefficient of invariance to demonstrate the level of invariance associated with the factors identified in a self concept measure (the Self Observation Scales, Intermediate Form A). Implications for hypothesis testing are discussed.

The nature of feared outcome representations in children

TL;DR: The authors investigated the way in which feared outcomes are organized in long-term memory in children and adolescents and found that the two most interpretable factors of feared outcomes were concerned with physical harm and social consequences.

Methods for Detecting and Evaluating Cultural Bias in Neuropsychological Tests

TL;DR: The issues of bias (or its potential) in psychological testing have been a recurring, characteristically intense, social controversy throughout the history of mental measurement (e.g., see Reynolds & Brown, 1984, for a review of early to mid-1900s controversies).

Factorial similarity of the WISC-R for Anglos and Chicanos referred for psychological services

TL;DR: Two-and three-factor principal factor solutions to the WISC-R (Wechsler, 1974) were compared across race for referred Anglo and Chicano children as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fluid and crystallized intelligence and primacy/recency components of short-term memory

TL;DR: The authors found that recency recall from probed-recall tasks is more closely linked to intelligence than is primacy recall, which is correlated more with measures of cognitive speed than is recency memory.
