TLDR
Wang et al. as discussed by the authors examined whether increases in energy efficiency of major household items cause additional short-run utilization of these end uses and other end uses for households in Beijing, and an integrated model was first developed by combining a Logit model and a resource allocation model, where the former represents the choice of end-use ownership and the latter describes the end use usage.

Characteristics of residential energy consumption in China: Findings from a household survey

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors conducted a comprehensive survey of 1450 households in 26 Chinese provinces to identify the characteristics and potential driving forces of residential energy consumption in China and found that a typical Chinese household in 2012 consumed 1426 kilograms standard coal equivalent, which is approximately 44 percent of the 2009 level in the United States and 38 percent of 2008 level in China.

Energy performance gap in refurbished German dwellings: Lesson learned from a field test

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the results from the monitoring activity of buildings from a field test, located in Southern Germany, and identified the energy performance gap for each refurbishment solution with values up to 287% based on calculated savings.

Making the ‘rebound effect’ more useful for performance evaluation of thermal retrofits of existing homes: Defining the ‘energy savings deficit’ and the ‘energy performance gap’

TL;DR: In this article, the authors surveyed common usages of the term "rebound effect" in domestic heating, identifying three main metrics, which employ different mathematical forms and therefore give different results, but are often lumped together.

Environmental benefits from ridesharing: A case of Beijing

TL;DR: Zhang et al. as discussed by the authors evaluated the direct environmental benefits of ridesharing resulted from travel mode shift and the indirect environmental benefits resulted from the attitude change towards car purchase behavior.

The determinants of household electricity consumption in Taiwan: Evidence from quantile regression

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors employed quantile regression to analyze the determinants of household electricity consumption in Taiwan over the period 1981-2011, and found that household income and household size were significant in all quantiles for each year.

Energy efficiency and consumption — the rebound effect — a survey

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of some of the relevant literature from the US offers definitions and identifies sources including direct, secondary, and economy-wide sources and concludes that the range of estimates for the size of the rebound effect is very low to moderate.

Natural and Quasi- Experiments in Economics

TL;DR: The authors describes the advantages of these studies and suggests how they can be improved and also provides aids in judging the validity of inferences that they draw, such as multiple treatment and comparison groups and multiple preintervention or post-intervention observations.

Individual Discount Rates and the Purchase and Utilization of Energy-Using Durables

TL;DR: In this article, a model of individual behavior in the purchase and utilization of energy-using durables is presented, where the tradeoff between capital costs for more energy efficient appliances and operating costs for the appliances is emphasized.
