TLDR
In this article, the transpiration time course of soilless culture cucumber plants (Cucumis sativus L.) during two cycles, at low (up to 9MJm−m−2ǫd−1) and high ( up to 20MJm −m− 2ǫ d−1), was analyzed, and their relationship with greenhouse climate parameters (incident radiation and vapour pressure deficit, VPD) and canopy development was found.

Influence of CeO2 and ZnO nanoparticles on cucumber physiological markers and bioaccumulation of Ce and Zn: a life cycle study.

TL;DR: This is the first holistic study focusing on the impacts of CeO2 and ZnO NPs in the life cycle of cucumber plants, and μ-XRF images exhibited Ce in the leaf vein vasculature, suggesting that Ce moves between tissues with water flow during transpiration.

Measurement and estimation of plastic greenhouse reference evapotranspiration in a Mediterranean climate

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used free-drainage lysimeters to measure ETo inside a plastic greenhouse with a perennial grass in Almeria, south-eastern Spain.

How does a shelter of solar panels influence water flows in a soil–crop system?

TL;DR: Marrou et al. as discussed by the authors proposed a conceptual framework to analyze AET modifications in the partial shade and assess the contribution of identified drivers to this change, and combined two complementary approaches to assess the impact of the solar panels cover on crop water use.

Minimal heating and cooling in a modern rose greenhouse

TL;DR: In this article, a dynamic optimization tool based on optimal control theory was used to obtain time trajectories of the energy flux that minimizes total external energy input over the year, while maintaining greenhouse air temperature and humidity between grower defined bounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Implementing Sustainable Irrigation in Water-Scarce Regions under the Impact of Climate Change

TL;DR: A comprehensive review of the literature dealing with sustainable irrigation for open-field and protected cultivation systems under the impact of climatic change in vulnerable areas, including the Mediterranean region, is presented in this article.

Transpiration of greenhouse crops : an aid to climate management

TL;DR: In this paper, physical aspects of greenhouse climate are analyzed to show the direct interrelation between microclimate and crop transpiration, and it is shown that defining the transpiration rate as the criterion for the control of air humidity within a greenhouse would deliver a quantitative framework for that control.

Plant canopies: their growth, form and function.

TL;DR: The description and measurement of plant canopy structure G. Raupach et al. as discussed by the authors have described and measured the structure of canopies and their relationship with the atmosphere.
