Particle Capture in Porous Medium

Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrasonic characterisation of particle retention by a double porosity medium.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate the capacity of ultrasound for detecting the evolution of physical clogging as a consequence of particle deposition and the effects of intraporosity on transport and retention mechanisms.
ReportDOI

Dynamics of Coupled Contaminant and Microbial Transport in Heterogeneous Porous Media: Purdue Component

TL;DR: This interdisciplinary research project, of which the Purdue contribution is reported, provides fundamental information on the attachment/detachment dynamics of bacteria in heterogeneous porous media.
DissertationDOI

Clogging of stormwater filters with high filtration rates

TL;DR: In this article, the impacts of both design and operational variables on clogging have been studied in controlled laboratory environments using a compressed timescale approach, and it was found that the size of the filter media particles significantly impacted the clogging process, as well as the overall sediment removal performance of the filters.
