Study on the plugging performance of bilayer-coating microspheres for in-depth conformance control: experimental study and mathematical modeling

TL;DR: In this paper, a mathematical model for the deep-bed filtration of bilayer-coating microspheres (BCMS) in porous media is developed, accounting for the limited retention concentration and the velocity difference between the suspended particles and the carrier fluid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Face failure analysis of a shield tunnel with slurry penetration into the ground

TL;DR: In this article , a multiphase flow process in porous media is considered to assess the face stability of a tunnel driven by a slurry shield machine in the water-bearing ground, and a multifield model coupling seepage flow and face stability is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Effect of Vuggy Porosity on Straining in Porous Media

TL;DR: In this article, a formation-damage experimental study was conducted on synthetic homogeneous and vuggy cores, where glass beads of 1.0 mm were sintered to form a uniform core with a porosity of 42%, and finer-sized glass beads (25 and 100 µm) were used as the infiltrates.

Studying droplet retention in porous media by novel microfluidic methods

TL;DR: In this article , a microfluidic method for studying the transport of dilute oil-in-water emulsions through porous media is presented. The method allows identification of every single retention event at the capillary level and quantitative analysis of the spatial distribution of the retained droplets over pore volumes injected.
