XPS and FTIR Surface Characterization of TiO2 Particles Used in Polymer Encapsulation

TL;DR: In this article, the surfaces of hydrophilic and hydrophobic TiO2 particles were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared spectrography (FTIR) to gain a better understanding of the adsorption mechanism of OLOA 370 (polybutene-succinimide pentamine) on TiO 2 particles dispersed in styrene monomer prior to miniemulsion encapsulation polymerizations.

Visible-light-active titanium oxide photocatalyst realized by an oxygen-deficient structure and by nitrogen doping

TL;DR: In this article, a visible-light (vis)-active titanium oxide photocatalyst was prepared by a simple wet process: the calcination of the hydrolysis product of Ti(SO 4 ) 2 with ammonia using an ordinary electric furnace in dry air at 400°C.

Chemical Identification of Surface Groups

TL;DR: The surface properties of a surface are influenced by the surface groups and the knowledge of their existence and of their chemistry are important for many technological processes as mentioned in this paper, which is why it is important to have knowledge of these surface groups.

Refinement of the structure of anatase at several temperatures

TL;DR: In this paper, the crystal structure of anatase was refined at several temperatures between 25°C and 800°C using single-crystal x-ray diffraction data and the only structural parameter, the z coordinate of oxygen, changes regularly from 0.2081(2) at 25°c to 0. 2076(3) at 800°c. This change is about an order of magnitude smaller than that proposed by HORN and SCHWERDTFEGER (1971) to explain the temperature dependence of electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of anatases.

Study of the Acid–Base Properties of Heterogeneous Catalysts by Infrared Spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the acid-base properties of the surface of heterogeneous catalysts were analyzed using spectral properties of adsorbed molecules and the quantities through which the protonic (Bronsted), aprotic (Lewis), acidic and basic centres of the surfaces can be most easily characterised.
