Reducing shrinkage in injection moldings via the Taguchi, ANOVA and neural network methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the optimal injection molding conditions for minimum shrinkage were determined by the Taguchi, experimental design and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) methods, and the neural network (NN) model was generated and was shown to be an efficient predictive tool for shrinkage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Statistical textural features for detection of microcalcifications in digitized mammograms

TL;DR: The surrounding region-dependence method is shown to be superior to the conventional texture-analysis methods with respect to classification accuracy and computational complexity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Models of the emergence of language.

TL;DR: Using both neural network modeling and concepts from the study of dynamic systems, it is possible to analyze language learning as the integration of emergent dynamic systems.
Book ChapterDOI

The competition model: the input, the context, and the brain

TL;DR: This article proposed a competition model for first and second language acquisition (SLA) in both naturalistic and formal contexts, and examined the role of the input in L2 learning, using the concepts of cue reliability and availability to characterize the cognitive abilities of the learner.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling of the space and domestic hot-water heating energy-consumption in the residential sector using neural networks

TL;DR: Two NN based energy-consumption models were developed to estimate the space and domestic hot-water heating energy consumptions in the Canadian residential sector and the NN methodology used in developing the models, the accuracy of the predictions, and some sample results are presented.
