TLDR
A new nonprobabilistic entropy measure is introduced in the context of fuzzy sets or messages and the theory of subsethood is shown to solve one of the major problems with Bayes-theorem learning and its variants—the problem of requiring that the space of alternatives be partitioned into disjoint exhaustive hypotheses.

Fuzzy ARTMAP: A neural network architecture for incremental supervised learning of analog multidimensional maps

TL;DR: The fuzzy ARTMAP system is compared with Salzberg's NGE systems and with Simpson's FMMC system, and its performance in relation to benchmark backpropagation and generic algorithm systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bidirectional associative memories

TL;DR: The author proves that every n-by-p matrix M is a bidirectionally stable heteroassociative content-addressable memory for both binary/bipolar and continuous neurons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fuzzy ART: Fast stable learning and categorization of analog patterns by an adaptive resonance system

TL;DR: This paper aims to demonstrate the efforts towards in-situ applicability of EMMARM, which aims to provide real-time information about concrete mechanical properties such as E-modulus and compressive strength.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adaptive bidirectional associative memories

TL;DR: The BAM correlation encoding scheme is extended to a general Hebbian learning law and every BAM adaptively resonates in the sense that all nodes and edges quickly equilibrate in a system energy local minimum.

Foundations of neural networks, fuzzy systems, and knowledge engineering

TL;DR: This text is the first to combine the study of neural networks and fuzzy systems, their basics and their use, along with symbolic AI methods to build comprehensive artificial intelligence systems.

Neural networks and physical systems with emergent collective computational abilities

TL;DR: A model of a system having a large number of simple equivalent components, based on aspects of neurobiology but readily adapted to integrated circuits, produces a content-addressable memory which correctly yields an entire memory from any subpart of sufficient size.

A mathematical theory of evidence

Glenn Shafer
TL;DR: This book develops an alternative to the additive set functions and the rule of conditioning of the Bayesian theory: set functions that need only be what Choquet called "monotone of order of infinity." and Dempster's rule for combining such set functions.

Self Organization And Associative Memory

Teuvo Kohonen
TL;DR: The purpose and nature of Biological Memory, as well as some of the aspects of Memory Aspects, are explained.

Upper and Lower Probabilities Induced by a Multivalued Mapping

TL;DR: A distinctive feature of the present approach is a rule for conditioning, or more generally, arule for combining sources of information, as discussed in Sects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Similarity relations and fuzzy orderings

TL;DR: An extended version of Szpilrajn's theorem is proved and various properties of similarity relations and fuzzy orderings are investigated and, as an illustration, a fuzzy preordering is investigated which is reflexive and antisymmetric.
