Tar reduction in biomass producer gas via mechanical, catalytic and thermal methods: A review

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the recent studies in tar treatment from biomass gasification is presented, where the new technologies with their strengths and weaknesses in term of tar reduction are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of elements, speciation of As, Cr, Ni and emitted Hg for a Canadian power plant burning bituminous coal

TL;DR: A detailed assessment of elements was carried out at a power plant rated at 150MW burning western Canadian medium volatile bituminous coal with an ash content of 34.7%. The distributions of elements of environmental concern in feed coals, ashes, and stack-emitted materials were determined using NAA, ICPES and ICP-MS, GFAA for Pb, and CVAA for Hg as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A high capacity manganese-based sorbent for regenerative high temperature desulfurization with direct sulfur production: Conceptual process application to coal gas cleaning

TL;DR: In this paper, a high capacity, monolith or particle shaped, regenerable sorbent has been developed for the desulfurization of a dry type coal gas, which consists of crystalline MnAl2O4, a small amount of disperse MnO, and an amorphous Mn-Al-O phase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Energy and capital cost analysis of CO2 capture in coal IGCC processes via gas separation membranes

TL;DR: In this paper, the use of a hybrid coal integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) system, consisting of a gasifier, a shift reactor and a membrane separator, has been examined.
Journal ArticleDOI

On-line spectroscopic and spectrometric methods for the determination of metal species in industrial processes☆

TL;DR: The status of on-line methods for determining metal species, particularly alkali and heavy metals, is reviewed in this article, where the main focus is on absorption (tunable diode laser and differential absorption spectroscopies) and emission (spontaneous atomic emission, laser induced fluorescence, photofragment fluorescence as well as several varieties of plasma spectroscopy).
