Geochemistry of trace metals in the Gironde estuary
TLDR
In this paper, the authors measured the dissolved, particulate, and (by cross-flow filtration) colloidal fractions of Cd, Ni, Zn, Cu, Pb, Mn, and Fe in the Gironde, an estuary in southwestern France.About:

TL;DR: In this article, groundwater and seawater samples were collected from nearshore wells and offshore along the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii to investigate rare earth element (REE) behavior in local subterranean estuaries.

Metal mobilization in the Gironde Estuary (France): the role of the soft mud layer in the maximum turbidity zone
TL;DR: In this article, the vertical profiles of heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni and Pb) in the particulate and dissolved phases and redox sensitive parameters (dissolved oxygen, nitrate, nitrite and ammonium) were analyzed for the first time in the continuum Maximum Turbidity Zone (MTZ) −Fluid Mud (FM; 50 g l 1

The Differential Geochemical Behavior of Arsenic and Phosphorus in the Water Column and Sediments of the Saguenay Fjord Estuary, Canada
TL;DR: The distribution and partitioning of dissolved and particulate arsenic and phosphorus in the water column and sediments of the Saguenay Fjord in Quebec, Canada, are compared in this article.

Temporal variation of heavy metal contamination in fish of the river lot in southern France.
TL;DR: The situation of the River Lot has improved over the last 2 decades, although there is still margin for amelioration according to US EPA criterion to protect freshwater aquatic life.

Net Fluxes of Dissolved Arsenic, Cadmium, Copper, Zinc, Nitrogen and Phosphorus from the Gironde Estuary (France): Seasonal Variations and Trends
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined data obtained during five cruises over a 1-year period, taking into account various seasonal and hydrodynamic conditions, and concluded that when estuaries are subjected to marked fluctuations in freshwater flows and climatic conditions, an analysis of the concentrations or instantaneous fluxes of the various elements must be interpreted only as a part of the annual geochemical cycle.

Flocculation of dissolved organic and inorganic matter during the mixing of river water and seawater
TL;DR: In this paper, a new approach to estuarine studies is presented which establishes 1) the extent and salinity dependence of non-conservative behaviour; 2) composition and chemical form of removal products; and 3) abiological removal mechanisms.

The mechanism of iron removal in estuaries
TL;DR: A survey of U.S. east coast estuaries confirms that large-scale rapid removal of iron from river water is a general phenomenon during estuarine mixing as discussed by the authors.

Copper complexation in the Northeast Pacific
TL;DR: Copper titrations were conducted at sea with differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry to examine the degree to which copper was associated with organic ligands as discussed by the authors, finding that approximately 50-70% of the total dissolved copper was in the organically complexed form.

Complexation of zinc by natural organic ligands in the central North Pacific
TL;DR: In this paper, the complexation of Cd by natural organic ligands in the upper 600 m of the central North Pacific was determined with differential pulse anodic stripping voltametry at a thin mercury film, rotating glassy-carbon disk electrode.
