Halomonadaceae fam. nov., a New Family of the Class Proteobacteria to Accommodate the Genera Halomonas and Deleya

TLDR
The branching point of the Halomonas-Deleya line of descent from other sublines in terms of similarity coefficients is as low as 0.45, which justifies the description of a new family, for which the name Halomonadaceae is proposed.

Journal ArticleDOI

Ribosomal DNA: molecular evolution and phylogenetic inference.

TL;DR: An analysis of aligned sequences of the four nuclear and two mitochondrial rRNA genes identified regions of these genes that are likely to be useful to address phylogenetic problems over a wide range of levels of divergence.

Biology of moderately halophilic aerobic bacteria

TL;DR: The moderately halophilic heterotrophic aerobic bacteria form a diverse group of microorganisms and approaches to the study of genetic processes have recently been developed, opening the way toward an understanding of haloadaptation at the molecular level.

Microbial life at high salt concentrations: phylogenetic and metabolic diversity

TL;DR: Few adaptations of the cells' proteome are needed, and organisms using the 'organic-solutes-in strategy' often adapt to a surprisingly broad salt concentration range.

A Detailed Phenotypic Characterisation of the Type Strains of Halomonas Species

TL;DR: The results of this work should allow researchers to minimise the tests required to arrive at a reliable phenotypic characterisation of Halomonas isolates and to select those of most use to differentiateHalomonas species from each other.

A procedure for the isolation of deoxyribonucleic acid from micro-organisms

TL;DR: A method has been described for the isolation of DNA from micro-organisms which yields stable, biologically active, highly polymerized preparations relatively free from protein and RNA, and Representative samples have been characterized for their thermal stability and sedimentation behaviour.
