Hydrodynamics of R-charged black holes

TLDR
In this paper, the authors considered hydrodynamics of = 4 supersymmetric SU(Nc) Yang-Mills plasma at a nonzero density of R-charge and computed the shear viscosity as a function of chemical potentials conjugated to the three U(1)⊂SO(6)R charges.
Abstract
We consider hydrodynamics of = 4 supersymmetric SU(Nc) Yang-Mills plasma at a nonzero density of R-charge. In the regime of large Nc and large 't Hooft coupling the gravity dual description involves an asymptotically Anti- de Sitter five-dimensional charged black hole solution of Behrnd, Cvetic and Sabra. We compute the shear viscosity as a function of chemical potentials conjugated to the three U(1)⊂SO(6)R charges. The ratio of the shear viscosity to entropy density is independent of the chemical potentials and is equal to 1/4π. For a single charge black hole we also compute the thermal conductivity, and investigate the critical behavior of the transport coefficients near the boundary of thermodynamic stability.

Quasinormal modes of black holes and black branes

TL;DR: Quasinormal modes are eigenmodes of dissipative systems as discussed by the authors, and they serve as an important tool for determining the near-equilibrium properties of strongly coupled quantum field theories, such as viscosity, conductivity and diffusion constants.

Nonlinear fluid dynamics from gravity

Quasinormal modes of black holes: From astrophysics to string theory

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of recent achievements on various aspects of black hole perturbations are discussed such as decoupling of variables in the perturbation equations, quasinormal modes (with special emphasis on various numerical and analytical methods of calculations), late-time tails, gravitational stability, anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory interpretation, and holographic superconductors.

Viscosity, Black Holes, and Quantum Field Theory

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show how the hydrodynamic behavior of field theory is reflected in the low-momentum limit of correlation functions computed through a real-time AdS/CFT prescription, which they formulate.

Gauge Theory Correlators from Non-Critical String Theory

TL;DR: In this paper, a boundary of the anti-deSitter space analogous to a cut-off on the Liouville coordinate of the two-dimensional string theory is introduced to obtain certain Green's functions in 3+1-dimensional N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with a large number of colors via non-critical string theory.
