TLDR
A new informative frequency band selector based on the conditional variance statistic is proposed and studied in details and it is shown that the proposed method is superior to many common alternatives based e.g. on Kurtosis or Alpha selectors, especially when non-cyclic impulses dominate over the cyclic ones.

CS2 analysis in presence of non-Gaussian background noise: Effect on traditional estimators and resilience of log-envelope indicators

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of leptokurtic noise on squared envelope spectra and cyclic modulation spectra was investigated and quantified for the first time, by analysing three progressively harsh situations: high kurtosis, infinite Kurtosis and alpha-stable background noise (for which even first and second-order moments are not defined).

Selection of the Informative Frequency Band in a Bearing Fault Diagnosis in the Presence of Non-Gaussian Noise—Comparison of Recently Developed Methods

TL;DR: The analysis will cover spectral kurtosis, kurtogram, stability index (Alpha selector), conditional variance-based selector, spectral Gini index, spectral smoothness index and infogram, and a discussion on the efficiency of each method.

Tacho-less sparse CNN to detect defects in rotor-bearing systems at varying speed

TL;DR: In this article, a tacho-less deep learning model is developed which can effectively learn, even from small data set, by adding newly developed sparsity cost in the existing cost function of CNN.

Adaptive sensitive frequency band selection for VMD to identify defective components of an axial piston pump

TL;DR: In this article, a single valued neutrosophic entropy based adaptive sensitive frequency band selection for the purpose of identifying defective components in an axial pump was proposed. But the proposed methodology is applied in the following steps: first, VMD is applied for decomposing vibration signals into various frequency bands, called as modes.

Application of UAV in Search and Rescue Actions in Underground Mine—A Specific Sound Detection in Noisy Acoustic Signal

TL;DR: The main goal of the paper is to present an automatic signal processing procedure for detection of a specific sound (supposed to contain voice activity) in presence of heavy, time-varying noise from UAV.

Fast computation of the kurtogram for the detection of transient faults

TL;DR: This communication describes a fast algorithm for computing the kurtogram over a grid that finely samples the ( f, Δ f ) plane and the efficiency of the algorithm is illustrated on several industrial cases concerned with the detection of incipient transient faults.
