TLDR
Flow cytometry and other analyses showed that some apoptosis was induced by the extract at lower concentrations, but at higher concentrations, necrosis was the major mechanism of cell death, and the most growth inhibitory phenolics of T. chebula fruit in the authors' study.

Distribution and biological activities of the flavonoid luteolin.

TL;DR: The ability of luteolin to inhibit angiogenesis, to induce apoptosis, to prevent carcinogenesis in animal models, to reduce tumor growth in vivo and to sensitize tumor cells to the cytotoxic effects of some anticancer drugs suggests that this flavonoid has cancer chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic potential.

Determination of total phenolic and flavonoid contents in selected fruits and vegetables, as well as their stimulatory effects on mouse splenocyte proliferation

TL;DR: The highest total phenolic content was observed in mulberry (1515.9 ± 5.7 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/100 g fresh matter (FM) among four selected fruit species as discussed by the authors.

Instant green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Terminalia chebula fruit extract and evaluation of their catalytic activity on reduction of methylene blue

TL;DR: In this article, a green approach for the synthesis and stabilization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using water extract of Terminalia chebula fruit under ambient conditions is reported, where instant formation of AgNPs was analyzed by visual observation and UV-visible spectrophotometer.

Cytotoxicity of dietary flavonoids on different human cancer types

Katrin Sak
TL;DR: While luteolin and kaempferol can be considered as promising candidate agents for treatment of gastric and ovarian cancers, respectively, apigenin, chrysin, andluteolin have good perspectives as potent antitumor agents for cervical cancer.

A novel assay to measure loss of plasma membrane asymmetry during apoptosis of adherent cells in culture

TL;DR: A flow cytometric-based method is described that allows the measurement of loss of phospholipid asymmetry during apoptosis of adherent cells in culture and it is shown that PS exposure occurs early after the onset of apoptosis and, at the prevalent time-resolution, thatPS exposure is accompanied by loss of both cytokeratin and DNA.

Studies on the activities of tannins and related compounds from medicinal plants and drugs. I. Inhibitory effects on lipid peroxidation in mitochondria and microsomes of liver.

TL;DR: Some monomeric polyphenols, represented by (-)-epigallocatechin gallate, showed inhibitory effects stronger than those of the condensed tannins in these systems, particularly on the lipid peroxidation induced by ADP and NADPH.
