Laser produced plasmas from isolated solid hydrogen pellets

TLDR
In this article, a 500 MW pulsed ruby laser is focussed on to an isolated solid hydrogen pellet in vacuo, and the resulting plasma expands spherically with a front velocity of 2 × 107 cm/sec.

Some properties of the plasmas produced by irradiating light solids by laser pulses

A Caruso, +1 more
- 01 Jan 1968 -
TL;DR: In this article, a theory for the process of irradiation of finite solid targets of light atoms (H2, D2, Li) by giant laser pulses is proposed, and the properties of the plasma produced are studied and the conditions to be satisfied in order to obtain an isotropic plasma are given.

Plasma production by laser

TL;DR: In this article, a review of high density, high temperature plasma production with pulse lasers is presented, with particular emphasis on solid deuterium targets of low atomic number Z, with possible applications to thermonuclear fusion.

Laser interaction with solids - A bibliographical review

TL;DR: A review of papers published on laser interaction with solids, from the point of view of plasma production, can be found in this paper, where the material is divided into one section dealing with theoretical work and one dealing with experiments.

Sources of highly stripped ions

N J Peacock, +1 more
- 01 Dec 1969 -
TL;DR: The condition that nτ, the product of density and containment time, is sufficiently high to strip ions almost to theirsteady-state degree of ionization can be achieved in certain high-density pulsed devices of thermonuclear interest as discussed by the authors.

\(\bar pp\) annihilation into pions in a reggeized multiperipheral modelannihilation into pions in a reggeized multiperipheral model

TL;DR: In this article, the phenomenological model of Chanet al. is applied to the calculation of the cross-sections and single-particle angular and momentum distributions of the reaction, where at most one neutral pion is allowed in the final state.

Laser produced plasmas from solid hydrogen targets

TL;DR: In this article, a 500 MW ruby laser is focussed onto a solid hydrogen filament to study the expanding plasma which contains ∼3×1017 particles with several hundred eV average energy.
