Latent Class Analysis: A Guide to Best Practice:
TLDR
In the present article, LCA is described, key elements to consider when conducting LCA are reviewed, and an example of its application is provided.Abstract:
Latent class analysis (LCA) is a statistical procedure used to identify qualitatively different subgroups within populations who often share certain outward characteristics. The assumption underlyi...read more

Information trust and COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy amongst middle-aged and older adults in Singapore: A latent class analysis Approach
TL;DR: In this article , the trust middle-aged and older adults place in various sources of information influences vaccine hesitancy, and distinct typologies of trust can be identified to better inform targeted health communication efforts.

When and how consumers are willing to exchange data with retailers: An exploratory segmentation
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors employ a latent class segmentation and identify six consumer segments which differ in their perceptions of the consumer-retailer data exchange, including privacy concerns, technology readiness, and general trust of, and engagement with, retail brands.

Cardiovascular subphenotypes in patients with COVID‐19 pneumonitis whose lungs are mechanically ventilated: a single‐centre retrospective observational study
TL;DR: A retrospective, single‐centre cohort study in ICU patients with COVID‐19 pneumonitis whose lungs were mechanically ventilated and who underwent transthoracic echocardiography between March 2020 and May 2021 concludes that the identified subphenotypes aligned with right ventricular pathophysiology rather than the accepted definitions ofright ventricular dysfunction.

Deciding on the Number of Classes in Latent Class Analysis and Growth Mixture Modeling: A Monte Carlo Simulation Study

Likelihood Ratio Tests for Model Selection and Non-Nested Hypotheses
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose simple and directional likelihood-ratio tests for discriminating and choosing between two competing models whether the models are nonnested, overlapping or nested and whether both, one, or neither is misspecified.

Testing the number of components in a normal mixture
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the likelihood ratio statistic based on the Kullback-Leibler information criterion of the null hypothesis that a random sample is drawn from a k 0 -component normal mixture distribution against the alternative hypothesis that the sample was drawn from an k 1 -component normalized mixture distribution is asymptotically distributed as a weighted sum of independent chi-squared random variables with one degree of freedom, under general regularity conditions.
