Golgi apparatus, gerl, and lysosomes of neurons in rat dorsal root ganglia, studied by thick section and thin section cytochemistry

TL;DR: Serial 0.5-µ and thin sections of thiamine pyrophosphatase-incubated material demonstrate that, in the neurons studied, the Golgi apparatus is a continuous network coursing through the cytoplasm, and suggest that GERL is also a continuous structure throughout the cy toplasm.

ANALYTICAL STUDY OF MICROSOMES AND ISOLATED SUBCELLULAR MEMBRANES FROM RAT LIVER III. Subfractionation of the Microsomal Fraction by Isopycnic and Differential Centrifugation in Density Gradients

TL;DR: Rat liver microsomal fractions have been equilibrated in various types of linear density gradients and four groups of constituents have been classified, in the order of increasing median density, into four groups labeled a, b, c, and d.

Migration of glycoprotein from the golgi apparatus to the surface of various cell types as shown by radioautography after labeled fucose injection into rats

TL;DR: Radioautography shows differences in reactivity among different cell types and cell surfaces imply considerable differences in the turnover rates of the cell coats, which implies turnover of cell coat glycoproteins, at least in nonrenewing cell types, such as those of kidney tubules.

ANALYTICAL STUDY OF MICROSOMES AND ISOLATED SUBCELLULAR MEMBRANES FROM RAT LIVER II. Preparation and Composition of the Microsomal Fraction

TL;DR: Liver homogenates have been submitted to quantitative fractionation by differential centrifugation and a final supernate (S) have been obtained, and the biochemical composition of the microsomal fraction has been established from the assay and distribution pattern of 25 enzymatic and chemical constituents.

In vivo incorporation of choline- 3 H, leucine- 3 H and galactose- 3 H in alveolar type II pneumocytes in relation to surfactant synthesis. A quantitative radoautographic study in mouse by electron microscopy.

TL;DR: A quantitative time study of the incorporation of choline‐3H, leucine-3H and galactose‐3h in lung epithelial cells, was undertaken in vivo with electron microscopic autoradiography to suggested as phospholipid carriers between Golgi complex and lamellar bodies.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.

Studies on plasma membranes. i. chemical composition and enzyme content of plasma membranes isolated from rat liver

TL;DR: The possibility that the plasma-membrane preparations were contaminated by microsomal elements is discussed, and, on account of the available evidence, the conclusion is reached that there is no reason to assume that this was the case.

Synthesis of the carbohydrate of mucus in the golgi complex as shown by electron microscope radioautography of goblet cells from rats injected with glucose-h3

TL;DR: The evidence indicates that the Golgi saccule is the site where complex carbohydrate is synthesized and is added to immigrant protein to form the complete glycoprotein of mucus.

Radioautographic comparison of the uptake of galactose-h3 and glucose-h3 in the golgi region of various cells secreting glycoproteins or mucopolysaccharides

TL;DR: Radioautography after injection of galactose-H3, as after glucose- H3, indicates that synthesis of complex carbohydrates takes place in the Golgi region of many secretory cells.

Electron microscopic and biochemical study of lipoprotein synthesis in the isolated perfused rat liver.

TL;DR: The isolated perfused rat liver was used to study the 300-800 A electron-opaque bodies and it was concluded that they are, in all likelihood, very low density lipoproteins and that their formation is blocked by puromycin, presumably through interference with the synthesis of their apoprotein.
