TLDR
The relation between information and entropy for measurements of thermo-dynamic parameters is considered in this paper, where the reduction in entropy that an observer can obtain in a system described by a fluctuating thermodynamic parameter is shown to be smaller than the information possessed by the observer.
Abstract
The relation between information and entropy for measurements of thermo-dynamic parameters is considered. The reduction in entropy that an observer can obtain in a system described by a fluctuating thermodynamic parameter is shown to be smaller than the information possessed by the observer. The information transfer and the entropy production due to the irreversible interaction of the observed system with the measuring instrument are compared.

Colloquium: The physics of Maxwell's demon and information

TL;DR: In this paper, the history of the second law of thermodynamics and its consequences in quantum information theory are discussed. But the focus is on the role of information, illuminated by Maxwell's demon, in the arena of quantum information.

Classical and quantum mechanics of the damped harmonic oscillator

TL;DR: The relation between various treatments of the classical linearly damped harmonic oscillator and its quantization is investigated in this paper, where it is shown how imposing a restriction on the classical trajectories in order to connect the Hamiltonian with the energy leads to the time-independent Bateman-Morse-Feshbach-Bopp Hamiltonian.

Generalized clausius inequality for nonequilibrium quantum processes.

TL;DR: It is shown that the nonequ equilibrium entropy production for a driven quantum system is larger than the Bures length, the geometric distance between its actual state and the corresponding equilibrium state, which generalizes the Clausius inequality to arbitrary nonequilibrium processes beyond linear response.

Stochastic mechanics and dissipative forces

TL;DR: In this article, a simple velocity dependent potential in the framework of stochastic mechanics is analyzed and a nonlinear Schrodinger-Langevin equation is obtained with the remarkable property of giving an approach to stationary quantum states.

Autonomous conversion of information to work in quantum dots

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider an autonomous implementation of Maxwell's demon in a quantum dot architecture acting on a system without changing its number of particles or its energy, and they find a fluctuation relation that is not connected to any symmetry of the moment-generating function of heat and particle flows.
