Mechanism study of the ethanol oxidation reaction on palladium in alkaline media

TLDR
In this paper, the mechanism of the ethanol oxidation reaction on a palladium electrode was studied using the cyclic voltammetry method, and the Tafel slope was found to be 130mV/dec−1 at lower potentials, which suggests that the adsorption of OH− ions follows the Temkin-type isotherm on the Pd electrode.

Alkaline direct alcohol fuel cells

TL;DR: The faster kinetics of the alcohol oxidation and oxygen reduction reactions in ADAFCs, opening up the possibility of using less expensive metal catalysts, such as silver, nickel and palladium, makes the ADAFC a potentially low cost technology compared to acid direct alcohol fuel cell technology, which employs platinum catalysts.
