Member checking continues to be an important quality control process in qualitative research as during the course of conducting a study, participants receive the opportunity to review their statements for accuracy and, in so doing; they may acquire a therapeutic benefit. The authors of this article suggest that this benefit is similar to some of the components of group therapy, especially in normalizing the phenomenon being experienced. Difficult relationships: how will compulsory School History and an Ubuntu-based curriculum help nation-building in South Africa?
TL;DR: This article used the findings of a research project conducted in history classrooms at three primary schools in South Africa to illustrate some of the difficulties in relationships in the history classroom, and they argued that compulsory history at school level will not necessarily be a panacea for South Africa's social ills, especially as this proposal reawakened fears of how history education was abused during apartheid.

Verification Strategies for Establishing Reliability and Validity in Qualitative Research
