TLDR
In this paper, a method and processing device are presented for reconstructing an absorption and/or scattering image of a region of interest inside a scattering medium, where a mathematical model is provided being representative of a relation between the distribution of the intensity and phase of electromagnetic radiation components scattered from a medium and a certain attenuation factor, which is function of spatial variations of scattering and absorption coefficients of the medium.Abstract:
A method and processing device are presented for reconstructing an absorption and/or scattering image of a region of interest inside a scattering medium. A mathematical model is provided being representative of a relation between the distribution of the intensity and phase of electromagnetic radiation components scattered from a medium and a certain attenuation factor, which is function of spatial variations of scattering and absorption coefficients of the medium. The mathematical is used for processing a map of distribution of the intensity of electromagnetic radiation components scattered from known locations within the region of interest, thereby producing a halftone pattern of the region of interest.read more

Method and apparatus for noninvasively monitoring parameters of a region of interest in a human body
TL;DR: In this paper, a control unit drives a measurement unit to provide an operating condition such that acoustic waves overlap with a region within the ROI that is illuminated by illuminating light such as to generate a first set of tagged photons, and such that the acoustic signals overlap with the regions of tissue within a second tissue type that are illuminated by illumination, the first and second sets of tags being distinguishable from one another.

Apparatus and method for irradiating a medium
TL;DR: In this article, a method for irradiating a medium includes irradiating the medium with an electromagnetic wave which is scattered in the medium and modulated in frequency at a position in the Medium, obtaining information corresponding to an interference pattern generated by interference between the modulated electromagnetic wave and a reference wave, and generating a phase conjugate wave, based on the obtained information, which irradiates the medium.

Acousto-optic tomography with multiply scattered light
TL;DR: In this paper, the modulation of the optical field transmitted through a colloid of polystyrene spheres by a narrow quasi-cw ultrasound beam was investigated, and the scale dependence of the heterodyne modulation signal at the acoustic frequency was obtained for samples that are up to 140 scattering lengths thick.
