Minimizing logistics risk through real‐time vehicle routing and mobile technologies: Research to date and future trends

TLDR
This paper investigates avenues for building upon recent trends in VR‐related research towards an integrated approach to real-time distribution management and proposes a system architecture for urban distribution and real‐time event‐driven vehicle management.
Abstract
Vehicle routing (VR) is critical in successful logistics execution The emergence of technologies and information systems allowing for seamless mobile and wireless connectivity between delivery vehicles and distribution facilities is paving the way for innovative approaches to real‐time VR and distribution management This paper investigates avenues for building upon recent trends in VR‐related research towards an integrated approach to real‐time distribution management A review of the advances to‐date in both fields, ie the relevant research in the VR problem and the advances in mobile technologies, forms the basis of this investigation Further to setting requirements, we propose a system architecture for urban distribution and real‐time event‐driven vehicle management

Supply chain risks: a review and typology

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a typology of risk sources, consisting of environmental factors, industry factors, organizational factors, problem-specific factors, and decision-maker related factors, which can be used by managers to measure and assess the vulnerabilities of their company and supply chain.

Supply chain risk management: present and future scope

TL;DR: Analysis based on evolved typologies indicates a growth of SCRM from a nascent to a fairly established activity over the past decade and will encourage new research techniques with a view to managing the risks in the globalized supply chain environment.

The last mile challenge: evaluating the effects of customer density and delivery window patterns

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on the third stage of the fulfillment process for consumer direct orders, which can be broadly characterized as consisting of three stages (Delaney-Klinger, Boyer, and Frohlich 2003): (1) acceptance, (2) order selection and fulfillment and (3) order delivery).

A casual analysis of the impact of information systems and supply chain management practices on operational performance : evidence from manufacturing SMEs in Turkey

TL;DR: In this article, the authors empirically tested a framework identifying the causal links among supply chain management (SCM) and information systems (IS) practices, SCM-IS related inhibiting factors and operational performance based on a sample of 203 manufacturing SMEs operating within the greater metropolitan area of Istanbul in Turkey.

An inventory of theory in logistics and SCM research

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive literature review of articles appearing in five top tier logistics and supply chain management journals is conducted in order to identify how often theory is used and to classify the specific theories used.

Computers and Intractability: A Guide to the Theory of NP-Completeness

TL;DR: The second edition of a quarterly column as discussed by the authors provides a continuing update to the list of problems (NP-complete and harder) presented by M. R. Garey and myself in our book "Computers and Intractability: A Guide to the Theory of NP-Completeness,” W. H. Freeman & Co., San Francisco, 1979.

Supply Chain Management: Implementation Issues and Research Opportunities

TL;DR: In 1998, the Council of Logistics Management modified its definition of logistics to indicate that logistics is a subset of supply chain management and that the two terms are not synonymous as discussed by the authors.
