Intercalation Kinetics of Long Polymers in 2 nm Confinements
Evangelos Manias,Hongyu Chen,Ramanan Krishnamoorti,Jan Genzer,Edward J. Kramer,Emmanuel P. Giannelis +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the motion of confined polymers is measured experimentally between parallel, atomically smooth solid surfaces, separated by 2 nm, and the kinetic data are interpreted in terms of an effective diffusion coefficient, which undergoes a dramatic decrease with stronger silicate surface-polymer interaction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solvent-Induced Surface Morphology of Thin Polymer Films
Peter Müller-Buschbaum,Jochen S. Gutmann,Markus Wolkenhauer,J. Kraus,Manfred Stamm,Detlef-M. Smilgies,Winfried Petry +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the surface morphology in terms of surface roughness, film quality, and roughness correlation in thin polymer films of polystyrene and fully brominated poly styrene is measured.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complex Pattern Formation by Phase Separation of Polymer Blends in Thin Films
TL;DR: In this article, the surface height modulation of a spin coating of very thin films from a solution of incompatible polymers is analyzed using scanning force microscopy (SFM) and X-ray reflectometry.

Isotope and microstructure interactions in blends of random copolymers
Jangweon Rhee,Buckley Crist +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, small-angle neutron scattering from binary blends of random copolymers having one partially deuterated component is examined by smallangle neutrons scattering from linear and ethyl branched C4H8 units and the Flory-Huggins interaction parameter χ is found to be ∼100% larger for blends in which the morebranched copolymer is labeled with deuterium.
