Prostanoid Receptors: Structures, Properties, and Functions

TL;DR: An overview of the current status of research on the prostanoid receptors is given and domains and amino acid residues conferring the specificities of ligand binding and signal transduction are being clarified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seven-transmembrane receptors.

TL;DR: This paper showed that the classical models of G-protein coupling and activation of second-messenger-generating enzymes do not fully explain seven-transmembrane receptors' remarkably diverse biological actions.

Interleukin-8 and related chemotactic cytokines--CXC and CC chemokines.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focused on interleukin-8 (IL-8) and related chemotactic cytokines, namely, CXC and CC chemokines.

The locus coeruleus-noradrenergic system: modulation of behavioral state and state-dependent cognitive processes.

TL;DR: It is suggested that dysregulation of locus coeruleus-noradrenergic neurotransmission may contribute to cognitive and/or arousal dysfunction associated with a variety of psychiatric disorders, including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, sleep and arousal disorders, as well as certain affective Disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diversity of G proteins in signal transduction.

TL;DR: The heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins acting as switches that regulate information processing circuits connecting cell surface receptors to a variety of effectors generate the pathways that modulate cellular responses to complex chemical signals.

Molecular characterization of rat substance K receptor and its mRNAs

TL;DR: Results indicated that no appreciable substance K receptor mRNAs were detected in poly(A)+ RNAs isolated from the brain and spinal cord, even though these tissues are known to not only contain substance K but also express the mRNA encoding the substance K precursor.
