Ecological effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of grazer-induced defenses in Fucus vesiculosus (Phaeophyceae)
TL;DR: This study aimed to reveal the dynamics of inducible anti-herbivory traits in the brown seaweed Fucus vesiculosus in response to grazing by the isopod Idotea baltica and gain insight into cellular processes underlying defense induction.
Book ChapterDOI
Tripartite interactions between plants, trichoderma and the pathogenic fungi
TL;DR: Investigations on the tripartite interaction studies between Trichoderma, the pathogenic fungi and the plant can be done for better exploitation of the biocontrol agent as a biofertilizer in modern agricultural practices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Better Osmotic Adjustment Mediates Salt and PEG Stress Tolerance in Primed Plants of Contrasting Cultivars of Sugarcane
TL;DR: It is suggested that osmotic adjustment plays an important role in increasing the stress tolerance of primed sugarcane plants.

Chromatin remodelling during plant-pathogen interactions
TL;DR: This thesis will present a comprehensive approach towards identifying Pst DC3000 Type-III effectors with the ability to interfere with chromatin remodelling with the aim of contributing towards a better understanding of the roles of histone acetylation and HAG1 hist one acetyltransferase in plant immunity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes of enzyme activities related to oxidative stress in rice plants inoculated with random mutants of a Pseudomonas fluorescens strain able to improve plant fitness upon biotic and abiotic conditions.
TL;DR: Results were obtained in growth of both species, suggesting that mutations of both mutants are related with the capacities of the wild type to stimulate growth, and involvement of redox balance associated to the observed modifications in these antioxidant enzymes as one of the probable mechanisms used by these strains.

Crystal structure of the nucleosome core particle at 2.8 Å resolution
TL;DR: The X-ray crystal structure of the nucleosome core particle of chromatin shows in atomic detail how the histone protein octamer is assembled and how 146 base pairs of DNA are organized into a superhelix around it.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Renaissance of Elicitors: Perception of Microbe-Associated Molecular Patterns and Danger Signals by Pattern-Recognition Receptors
Thomas Boller,Georg Felix +1 more
TL;DR: Current evidence indicates that MAMPs, DAMPs, and effectors are all perceived as danger signals and induce a stereotypic defense response, and the importance of MAMP/PRR signaling for plant immunity is highlighted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase: Conservation of a Three-Kinase Module From Yeast to Human
TL;DR: All known MAPK module kinases from yeast to humans are defined, what is known about their regulation, defined MAPK substrates, and the function of MAPK in cell physiology are defined.

MAP kinase signalling cascade in Arabidopsis innate immunity
Tsuneaki Asai,Guillaume Tena,Joulia Plotnikova,Matthew R. Willmann,Wan-Ling Chiu,Lourdes Gómez-Gómez,Thomas Boller,Frederick M. Ausubel,Jen Sheen +8 more
TL;DR: An Arabidopsis thaliana leaf cell system based on the induction of early-defence gene transcription by flagellin, a highly conserved component of bacterial flagella that functions as a PAMP in plants and mammals is developed, suggesting that signalling events initiated by diverse pathogens converge into a conserved MAPK cascade.

Isochorismate synthase is required to synthesize salicylic acid for plant defence
TL;DR: By cloning and characterizing an Arabidopsis defence-related gene (SID2) defined by mutation, it is shown that SA is synthesized from chorismate by means of ICS, and that SA made by this pathway is required for LAR and SAR responses.
