TLDR
In this paper, it was shown that metallic silver reacts to a much larger extent with a Lux-Flood acid (pyrosulphate) in solution than with nitrogen dioxide giving support to the nitryl cation as the acidic species in nitrate melts.

Synthesis of solid materials in molten nitrates

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of inorganic compounds in molten nitrates is discussed and several examples of this molten salt synthesis approach are given with the objective of optimising textural properties for catalytic applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Copper nitrate-mediated synthesis of 3-aryl isoxazolines and isoxazoles from olefinic azlactones.

TL;DR: The given approach features a new mode of cycloaddition from olefinic azlactones, copper nitrate and unsaturated compounds with wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance and operational simplicity.

Thermal stability and solubility of alkaline earth nitrates and chromates in nitrate melts

TL;DR: In this paper, the same authors determined the solubility values for these nitrates and for calcium and potassium chromates Latent heat of fusion values were derived for the latter two compounds.

From Alkenes to Isoxazolines via Copper-Mediated Alkene Cleavage and Dipolar Cycloaddition.

TL;DR: An unprecedented copper-mediated anion transformation is reported, along with selective C═C double bond cleavage and dipolar cycloaddition reaction from simple alkenes and inexpensive copper nitrate, which indicates a novel ionic pathway for alkene cleavage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Products of reactions of Mo and Zr compounds in molten nitrate

TL;DR: In this paper, the physicico-chemical properties of the products were studied vs. reaction temperature, nature of the alkali-metal cation and Mo reactant, and reaction temperature was of primary importance in determining the composition and structure of the product.

Molten lithium-potassium nitrate: The reactions of some halogen compounds

TL;DR: In this paper, the stoichiometry of the formation of iodide in pure melts and in dichromate melt solutions was determined, tri-iodide ions being the product in the presence of excess iodide.
