Natural radioactivity in the newly discovered high background radiation area on the eastern coast of Orissa, India

TLDR
The average activity concentrations of radioactive elements such as 232 Th, 238 U and 40 K, measured by gamma-ray spectrometry using an HPGe detector, and found to be 2825±50, 350±20 and 180±25 Bq kg −1, respectively, for the bulk sand samples as discussed by the authors.

Natural and anthropogenic radionuclides in rocks and beach sands from Ezine region (Canakkale), Western Anatolia, Turkey.

TL;DR: The Raeq activities of the pluton and sands are higher than the recommended maximum value of 370 Bq kg(-1) criterion limit of Raeq activity for building materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Radioactivity concentrations in soils of the Xiazhuang granite area, China.

TL;DR: The study provides background radioactivity concentrations in a granite area, specifically, the area in the vicinity of a uranium mine in Southern China, which can be used in exploring granite-type uranium deposits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessments of radioactivity concentration of natural radionuclides and radiological hazard indices in sediment samples from the East coast of Tamilnadu, India with statistical approach.

TL;DR: Coastal sediments do not to pose any significant radiological health risk to the people living in nearby areas along East coast of Tamilnadu and radiological hazard parameters were comparable to the world averages and below the recommended values.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of U, Th, K and emanated radon in some NORM and TENORM samples

TL;DR: The results indicated that the high activity levels, radium equivalent activity, absorbed-gamma dose rate and effective annual dose rate were found in monazite, zircon and PG wastes as compared to the other materials as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of spatial distribution and radiological hazardous nature of radionuclides in high background radiation area, Kerala, India

TL;DR: Cluster analysis shows that light minerals play a role in cluster I sampling sites and heavy minerals may be played in sampling sites of other clusters and Calculated activity ratio confirmed the presence of light andheavy minerals in above mentioned sampling sites.

Table of Isotopes

TL;DR: In this paper, a 2-volume work contains nuclear structure and decay data for over 3,100 isotopes and isomers and extensive appendices have been entirely rewritten, expediting retrieval and use of nuclear information for many areas of research.

sources and effects of ionizing radiation

TL;DR: This annex is aimed at providing a sound basis for conclusions regarding the number of significant radiation accidents that have occurred, the corresponding levels of radiation exposures and numbers of deaths and injuries, and the general trends for various practices, in the context of the Committee's overall evaluations of the levels and effects of exposure to ionizing radiation.

The Guelph PIXE software package IV

TL;DR: The GUPIXWIN program as discussed by the authors has been extended with a Monte Carlo code to provide detector efficiency values that are more accurate than those of the previous approximate analytical formula, and a new batch mode facility is designed to handle two-detector PIXE, with one detector measuring major elements and the other simultaneously measuring trace elements.
