Reduction of the hot cracking sensitivity of CM-247LC superalloy processed by laser cladding using induction preheating

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed investigation of the effect of cladding parameters on the crack susceptibility was carried out on coupons that received a low pre-heating condition, and attempts were made to reduce crack defects by using an induction preheating, with higher temperatures in the range of 800-1100°C.

Effect of heat input on cracking in laser solid formed DZ4125 superalloy

TL;DR: In this article, a DZ4125 superalloy is deposited on an as-cast substrate using laser solid forming (LSF) in order to investigate the effect of heat input on the cracking in the deposit and the heat affected zone (HAZ) in the substrate.

A new finite element model for welding heat sources

TL;DR: In this article, a double ellipsoidal geometry is proposed to model both shallow penetration arc welding processes and the deeper penetration laser and electron beam processes, which can be easily changed to handle non-axisymmetric cases such as strip electrodes or dissimilar metal joining.

Modelling of non-isothermal transformations in alloys containing a particle distribution

TL;DR: In this paper, a framework for modeling coupled nucleation, growth and coarsening in diluted alloys is presented, based on the method of finite differences, where the particle distribution is divided into a series of discrete size classes, each represented by a control volume.

Contribution of constitutional liquation of gamma prime precipitate to weld HAZ cracking of cast Inconel 738 superalloy

TL;DR: The weld heat affected zone (HAZ) cracking in cast Inconel 738 superalloy has been examined in this article, where the main strengthening phase of the alloy c 0, which is also present in significant volume after pre-weld heat treatment, was found to contribute significantly to grain boundary liquation and its attendant cracking in the HAZ.
