Numerical studies of submerged moored box-type floating breakwaters with different shapes of cross-sections using SPH

TLDR
In this article, the wave-attenuation performances and hydrodynamics of moored box-type floating breakwaters with the same weight, same wall thickness, and six different cross-sections, i.e. circular, triangle-down, triangle up, rectangular, trapezoid-down and trapezoidal-up, are investigated numerically using the smoothed particle hydrodynamic (SPH) method.

Particle methods in ocean and coastal engineering

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of particle methods in hydrodynamics-related problems in ocean and coastal engineering is presented, where the problems are placed into three categories according to their physical characteristics, namely, wave hydrodynamic and corresponding mass transport, wave-structure interaction, and wave-current-sediment interaction.

Numerical investigations and optimizations of typical submerged box-type floating breakwaters using SPH

TL;DR: In this article, four typical box-type floating breakwaters, i.e., dual rectangular breakwater, single rectangular breakwor, dual circular breakwoor, and single circular breakwater are selected to do extensive investigations using SPH.

A Review of SPH Techniques for Hydrodynamic Simulations of Ocean Energy Devices

TL;DR: In this paper , a detailed review concerning the SPH-based hydrodynamic simulations for ocean energy devices (OEDs) is provided, focusing on three topics that are tightly related to the concerning field, covering (1) SPHbased numerical fluid tanks, (2) multi-physics SPH techniques towards simulating OEDs, and finally (3) computational efficiency and capacity.

Proposal of a novel analytical wake model and array optimization of oscillating wave surge converter using differential evolution algorithm

TL;DR: A novel analytical wake model of OWSC is proposed and it is demonstrated that staggered layouts with narrow and wide OWSCs placed in the front and back of wave energy farms, respectively, were economical and appropriate.

Simulating Free Surface Flows with SPH

TL;DR: In this paper, the SPH (smoothed particle hydrodynamics) method is extended to deal with free surface incompressible flows, and examples are given of its application to a breaking dam, a bore, the simulation of a wave maker, and the propagation of waves towards a beach.

Piecewise polynomial, positive definite and compactly supported radial functions of minimal degree

TL;DR: A new class of positive definite and compactly supported radial functions which consist of a univariate polynomial within their support is constructed, it is proved that they are of minimal degree and unique up to a constant factor.

Estimation of incident and reflected waves in random wave experiments

TL;DR: In this article, a technique to resolve the incident and reflected waves from the records of composite waves is presented, which is applicable to both regular and irregular trains of waves and is effective in the range outside the condition of the gauge spacing being even integer of half wavelength.

Accuracy and stability in incompressible SPH (ISPH) based on the projection method and a new approach

TL;DR: A new divergence-free ISPH approach is proposed here which maintains accuracy and stability while remaining mesh free without increasing computational cost by slightly shifting particles away from streamlines, although the necessary interpolation of hydrodynamic characteristics means the formulation ceases to be strictly conservative.
