Non-kinship Address Terms in Akan: A Sociolinguistic Study of Language Use in Ghana

TL;DR: This article found that the influence of Westernism and modernism was reflected in the use of personal names and catch phrases in the Akans of post-colonial Ghana, with varying levels of frequency and saliency, with sociocultural factors such as gender, status, age and relationship of interactants as well as pragmatic factors.
