TLDR
In this paper, a modified approach based on the orthotropic plate theory for computing the natural frequencies of bridge slabs is presented through a set of empirical relationships between the plate parameters, and the results from the present investigation are compared with those obtained by other methods; good agreements are obtained.

Buckling and free vibration analyses of stiffened plates using the FSDT mesh-free method

TL;DR: In this paper, a mesh-free Galerkin method for the free vibration and stability analyses of stiffened plates via the first-order shear deformable theory (FSDT) is presented.

Free vibration analysis of ribbed plates by a combined analytical-numerical method

TL;DR: In this paper, an easy to code and computationally efficient analytical-numerical method for quick prediction of the modal characteristics of rectangular ribbed plates is presented, which is suitable for low-frequency free vibration analysis of thin rectangular plates reinforced by a small number of light stiffeners.

Seismic analysis of skewed highway bridges with intermediate supports

TL;DR: In this article, a study was made on the dynamic response of a bridge to the San Fernando earthquake, 1971, using a beam model capable of flexural and tensional deformation.

Dynamic behavior of orthotropic rectangular plates under moving loads

TL;DR: In this article, the dynamic behavior of an orthotropic plate simply supported on a pair of parallel edges and under a system of moving loads is analyzed based on Lagrange equation and modal superposition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vibration analysis of stiffened plates

TL;DR: In this paper, a spline compound strip method has been presented for the free vibration analysis of stiffened plates, where the plate was discretized and modelled as strip elements and the displacement function of a strip element has been expressed as the product of the conventional transverse shape functions and longitudinal cubic B-splines.

Natural frequencies of stiffened rectangular plates

TL;DR: In this article, the first symmetric and first antisymmetric modes of a simplysupported rectangular plate are determined by the Ritz method using a two-term solution, for a wide range of ratios of (a/b ) and (stiffener depth/plate thickness).

The Vibration of Simple Span Highway Bridges

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed an analytical method by which magnitude and character of bridge vibration due to passage of heavy vehicles can be predicted; method of analysis based upon certain simplifying assumptions; accuracy of method investigated by comparison with laboratory tests on model bridges.
