TLDR
In this paper, the authors evaluate the performance of the DS X ¯ chart when process parameters are estimated by means of a new proposed theoretical method, and show that performances with estimated parameters are different from that with known parameters, and propose three optimal design procedures.

Economic‐Statistical Design of the Synthetic X¯ Chart with Estimated Process Parameters

TL;DR: The effects of process parameter estimation on the cost of the synthetic chart are studied and the cost advantages of selecting the chart's parameters that minimize the cost when process parameters are estimated are determined.

Performance of cumulative count of conforming chart of variable sampling intervals with estimated control limits

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the effect of performance of CCC chart with variable sampling intervals with estimated control limits on the average time to signal (ATS) and its standard deviation (SDATS) when the high quality process is in-control and out-of-control.
Journal ArticleDOI

The exact run length distribution and design of the Shewhart X Chart with estimated parameters based on median run length

TL;DR: It is shown that the average run length is a confusing performance measure and that the median run length, which is a better representation of the central tendency associated with different shapes of the run length distribution, is more intuitive.

Synthetic double sampling s chart

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a synthetic double sampling s chart that integrates the double sampling (DS) s chart and the conforming run length chart and an optimization procedure is proposed to compute the optimal parameters of the synthetic DS s chart.
Journal ArticleDOI

Side-sensitive group runs double sampling (SSGRDS) chart for detecting mean shifts

TL;DR: In this article, a side-sensitive group runs double sampling (SSGRDS) chart was proposed to detect shifts in the process mean, which improved the side sensitive group runs chart proposed by Gadre and Rattihalli.

A simplex method for function minimization

TL;DR: A method is described for the minimization of a function of n variables, which depends on the comparison of function values at the (n 41) vertices of a general simplex, followed by the replacement of the vertex with the highest value by another point.

Exponentially weighted moving average control schemes: Properties and enhancements

TL;DR: The recognition that an EWMA control scheme can be represented as a Markov chain allows its properties to be evaluated more easily and completely than has previously been done.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exponentially weighted moving average control schemes: properties and enhancements

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluate the properties of an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control scheme used to monitor the mean of a normally distributed process that may experience shifts away from the target value.

Statistical methods for quality improvement

TL;DR: This paper presents a meta-analysis of the design of Experiments of Genichi Taguchi and Alternative Approaches using Combinations of Quality Improvement Tools, as well as some of the techniques used in this book, on the basis of its results.

Effects of Parameter Estimation on Control Chart Properties; A Literature Review

TL;DR: In this article, the control chart limits are calculated using parameter estimates from an in-control Phase I reference sample, and statistics based on new samples are compared with the estimated control limits to monitor for departures from the in..
