Oscillations in the catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds

TLDR
In this article, the catalytic oxidation of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) and o -xylene was studied on different catalysts and the oscillations in the molar flow rate of CO 2 were observed in some systems, corresponding to apparent conversions into CO 2 exceeding 100%.

Basic zeolites : Characterization and uses in adsorption and catalysis

TL;DR: The presence of basic centers in some oxides has been recognized for a long time as being important in catalysis as mentioned in this paper, and usually both basic and acid sites exist simultaneously, either independently or in a concerted way.

Oscillatory oxidation of CO over Pt, Pd and Ir catalysts: Theory

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple physical model is presented to explain the oscillatory oxidation of CO over Pt, Pd and Ir catalysts, where the slow oxidation and reduction of the metal surface layer induces transitions between these two branches of a Langmuir-Hinshelwood reaction mechanism.

Influence of the surface adsorption–desorption processes on the ignition curves of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) complete oxidation over supported catalysts

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that when the activity of the active phase supported on the Al 2 O 3 is high enough to allow the coupling at relatively low temperature of combustion with the adsorption and desorption processes of toluene or acetone and CO 2, a sort of chain reaction occurs leading to CO 2 peaks.

Acidity and Basicity in Zeolites

TL;DR: In this paper, correlations between the acidity and the basicity of zeolites are presented, where the basic sites are of the Broensted or Lewis type and the last ones which occur the more frequently consist of the oxygen atoms of the framework.
