Journal ArticleDOI
Dense motion estimation of particle images via a convolutional neural network
TL;DR: Experimental evaluations indicate that the trained CNN model can provide satisfactory results in both artificial and laboratory PIV images, and the computational efficiency of the CNN estimator is much superior to those of the traditional cross-correction and optical flow methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
A tensile ring drives tissue flows to shape the gastrulating amniote embryo
Mehdi Saadaoui,Mehdi Saadaoui,Didier Rocancourt,Didier Rocancourt,Julian Roussel,Julian Roussel,Francis Corson,Jerome Gros,Jerome Gros +8 more
TL;DR: Analyzing gastrulation in entire avian embryos, it is shown that it is driven by the graded contraction of a large-scale supracellular actomyosin ring at the margin between the embryonic and extraembryonic territories.
Journal ArticleDOI
Image processing techniques for the measurement of two-phase bubbly pipe flows using particle image and tracking velocimetry (PIV/PTV)
TL;DR: In this paper, a new method for phase discrimination in particle image velocimetry was developed to overcome the problems caused by the presence of bubbles in the flow, which uses the pixels intensity information of each interrogation window, to identify if that window corresponds to liquid or bubble region.
Journal ArticleDOI
On the internal flow of a ventilated supercavity
TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental investigation on the internal flow of a ventilated supercavity using fog flow visualization and particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Origin and Role of the Cerebrospinal Fluid Bidirectional Flow in the Central Canal
Olivier Thouvenin,Olivier Thouvenin,Ludovic Keiser,Yasmine Cantaut-Belarif,Martin Carbo-Tano,Frederik J. Verweij,Nathalie Jurisch-Yaksi,Pierre-Luc Bardet,Guillaume van Niel,François Gallaire,Claire Wyart +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that cilia activity combined with muscle contractions sustain the long-range transport of extracellular lipidic particles, enabling embryonic growth and ensuring the proper formation of the central canal.
