TLDR
Recent ADC calibration procedures will be presented which speed the calibration process by several orders of magnitude, and highly linear DACs are desirable, since they may be used as calibration sources for ADCs, and are often fundamental building-blocks of high-resolution ADCs.

Optimal index-bit allocation for dynamic post-correction of analog-to-digital converters

TL;DR: The results show that the proposed correction scheme improves the performance of the ADC and indicates that the allocation of index bits has a significant impact on the ADC performance, motivating the analysis tool.

Volterra filtering for integrating ADC error correction, based on an a priori error model

TL;DR: Considering an a priori error model of ADC allows us to find an efficient inverse Volterra model for error correction, and the method's effectiveness is demonstrated by experimental measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effective resolution of analog to digital converters

TL;DR: An analytical method is described which allows implementation of the necessary test on-cell procedure to produce a high-quality sine wave on the board and the parameters of this effective resolution measurement procedure can be easily accumulated by typical digital circuitry.

Characterization and Correction of Analog-to-Digital Converters

Henrik Lundin
TL;DR: This thesis deals with estimation of quantization region midpoints, aided by a reference signal, and a novel estimator based on order statistics is proposed, and is shown to have superior performance compared with the sample mean traditionally used.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new bidimensional histogram for the dynamic characterization of ADCs

TL;DR: A bidimensional histogram based on a dual-tone signal is proposed for testing analog-to-digital converters in the phase plane and the effectiveness and the practical applicability in standardization of the proposed method are highlighted.

Improved compensation for analog-to-digital converters

TL;DR: In this paper, two changes are recommended for procedures used in building two-dimensional state-space error correction tables to compensate high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).

Using sine wave histograms to estimate analog-to-digital converter dynamic error functions

TL;DR: Simulated results prove that this method removes all slope dependent errors for complex ADC architectures while experimental results for an 8-bit 200 MSPS ADC yielded more than 10 dB improvement in spurious-free-dynamic-range (SFDR) over the full Nyquist band.

Characterization of ADCs using a non-iterative procedure

TL;DR: Experimental results show that dynamic range performance can be improved by as much as 12 dB over the Nyquist band, and an error function measured for one ADC is found to work equally well for another ADC taken from the same production run.

Dynamic compensation of digital to analog converters

TL;DR: In this article, a model for DAC harmonic error was developed and a low-pass calibration scheme for measuring DAC errors, and a scheme for compensation of these errors was developed. But this model is not suitable for the case where the DAC introduces some harmonic error at its output.
