TLDR
In this article, it has been shown theoretically that the diffusional resistance to the transport in the biofilm of the inorganic carbon species as affected by the acidity production in a nitrifying biofilm gives rise to a decreased pH in the interior of the biofilms.

Criteria for Nitrification in Fixed Film Reactors

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that nitrification in fixed films can be achieved only when nitrifiers embedded in the surface of a growing biofilm of mineralizing bacteria get sufficient time in the aerobic zone of the biofilm to multiply and reach such concentrations that ammonia conversion becomes significant.

Effect of Denitrification on the pH in Biofilms

TL;DR: In this paper, the pH inside a denitrifying biofilm may be considerably higher than the pH in the bulk liquid, which has been verified by simultaneous measurements of the pH at the rear of the biofilm and in the liquid.

Why is there a decrease in the pH value compared to the sunlight time?

The paper does not provide information about a comparison between pH values during different times of sunlight. The paper focuses on the decrease in pH within nitrifying biofilms due to the acidity production in the biofilm.
