Physical aspects of the hartley transform

TLDR
The Hartley transform as discussed by the authors represents real data by real transform values, rather than complex, a feature that carries over into optical interferometry and is used for object phase determination starting from only amplitude information in the transform domain.

Aspects of the Hartley transform

TL;DR: In this paper, the Hartley transform and the Fourier transform are discussed from more than one point of view, including multidimensional transforms, complex generalization, and microwave phase measurement by amplitude measurement only.

Assessing the Hartley transform

TL;DR: The fast algorithm for the (real) Hartly transform is discussed in relation to the established fast algorithmFor the (complex) Fourier transform, compared by timing comparably written programs on a given machine, and the discipline of timing is discussed as an adjunct to complexity analysis.

Optical Hartley transforms

TL;DR: The two-dimensional Hartley transform is of particular interest not only as a tool for analysis and processing of images and other 2D functions, but because it can be implemented optically without introducing the phase ambiguities associated with intensity-only observations of Fourier transforms as mentioned in this paper.

A real spectral analysis of the deformation of a homogenous electric field over a thin bed – A Hartley transform approach

TL;DR: In this article, the deformation of a homogenous electric field caused by a long, thin inclined bed, which is of considerable importance in the exploration of ground water and minerals, is presented using the Hartley transform.
Journal ArticleDOI

Directional Hartley transform and content based image retrieval

TL;DR: The proposed CBIR algorithm using WDirHT and ODirHT is applied on AT&T face and Brodatz textures databases and results show that retrieval rate of both WDir HT and ODIRHT is better as compared to several other methods.

Some Aspects of Diffraction Theory and their Application to the Ionosphere

TL;DR: In this paper, the Fourier approach is extended to deal with problems of ''random'' diffraction, for which purpose the use of auto-correlation functions is introduced and explained in physical terms.

Diffraction from an irregular screen with applications to ionospheric problems

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of the diffraction effects produced when a plane wave is incident upon an irregular diffracting screen, and the results are applied to the problem of the reflexion of radio waves from an ionosphere which is irregular in the horizontal plane.

A theory of scattering by nonisotropic irregularities with application to radar reflections from the aurora

TL;DR: In this article, a model of the distribution of ionization in an aurora is developed that can explain the aspect sensitivity of radar echoes obtained at VHF during auroral activity.
