TLDR
PLS-regression (PLSR) as mentioned in this paper is the PLS approach in its simplest, and in chemistry and technology, most used form (two-block predictive PLS) is a method for relating two data matrices, X and Y, by a linear multivariate model.

Texture preferences of 12-month-old infants and the role of early experiences

TL;DR: The authors examined infants' preferences for different food textures and aimed to identify factors that play an important role in shaping these preferences and found that infants consumed significantly more pureed carrots (t(69) = 8.50, p p ) than chopped carrots.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low Power Operation of Temperature-Modulated Metal Oxide Semiconductor Gas Sensors.

TL;DR: It is found that on-demand operation produced a deformation of the sensor conductance patterns, which led to an increase in the prediction error by almost a factor of 5 as compared to continuous operation, which may be advantageous for applications that do not require continuous and periodic measurements, and which can tolerate slightly higher prediction errors.

On-line multi-analyzer monitoring of biomass, glucose and acetate for growth rate control of a Vibrio cholerae fed-batch cultivation

TL;DR: In situ near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and in-line electronic nose mapping were used to monitor and control a cholera-toxin producing Vibrio cholerae fed-batch cultivation carried out with a laboratory method as well as with a production method and showed that a deviation from a normal cultivation behavior could easily be recognized and that the trajectory was able to alarm a bacterial contamination.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Metabolomic Approach to Study Major Metabolite Changes during Acclimation to Limiting CO2 in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

TL;DR: The metabolic pattern during early induction of the carbon-concentrating mechanism fit a model where photorespiration is increasing, and six amino acids and, interestingly, 21 lipids were significantly lower.

Biomacromolecular quantitative structure-activity relationship (BioQSAR): a proof-of-concept study on the modeling, prediction and interpretation of protein-protein binding affinity.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the modeling performance and predictive power of BioSAR are comparable to or even better than that of traditional knowledge-based strategies, mechanism-type methods and empirical scoring algorithms, while BioQSAR possesses certain additional features compared to the traditional methods, such as adaptability, interpretability, deep-validation and high-efficiency.

A User's Guide to Principal Components

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a directory of Symbols and Definitions for PCA, as well as some classic examples of PCA applications, such as: linear models, regression PCA of predictor variables, and analysis of variance PCA for Response Variables.

A Leisurely Look at the Bootstrap, the Jackknife, and Cross-Validation

TL;DR: This paper reviewed the nonparametric estimation of statistical error, mainly the bias and standard error of an estimator, or the error rate of a prediction rule, at a relaxed mathematical level, omitting most proofs, regularity conditions and technical details.
