TLDR
In this article, the authors describe the preparation of colloidal dispersions of polypyrrole in aqueous media via a dispersion polymerization route, where particle aggregation is prevented by a steric stabilization mechanism due to the adsorption of a tailor-made poly(2-vinyl pyridine-co-butyl methacrylate) (P2VP-BM) random copolymer onto the sub-micrometre poly pyrrole nuclei.

Preparation and characterisation of novel polypyrrole–silica colloidal nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the preparation and characterisation of colloidal dispersions of polypyrrole-silica nanocomposite particles, and they find that both the particle size and the chemical composition depend markedly on the type of chemical oxidant selected for the in situ polymerisation of the pyrrole monomer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colloidal dispersions of conducting polymers

TL;DR: In this article, the same conducting polymers may be processed in aqueous media by chemical grafting or the physical adsorption of polymeric surfactants onto the conducting polymer chain/particle.

Chemical Reactivity of Polypyrrole and Its Relevance to Polypyrrole Based Electrochemical Sensors

TL;DR: In this article, the benefits and disadvantages of such processes for analytical characteristic of polypyrrole-based electrochemical sensors are considered, and the influence of these processes on changes of the polymer structure, composition and on possible degradation is analyzed.

Composite aqueous microgels: an overview of recent advances in synthesis, characterization and application

TL;DR: In the last decade, there has been a steady increase in the number of publications describing the synthesis, characterization and applications of hybrid particles as discussed by the authors, which is limited to microgel particles operating in aqueous media.

Electrically conducting composites of colloidal polypyrrole and methylcellulose

TL;DR: In this article, the oxidation of pyrrole by iron(III) chloride in aqueous solutions of methylcellulose yields colloidal solutions of conducting polypyrrole which can be used to prepare thin films with maximum conductivity of 0.2 S/cm.
