Parallel and distributed simulation of sediment dynamics in shallow water using particle decomposition approach

TL;DR: This paper describes the parallel simulation of sediment dynamics in shallow water by using a Lagrangian model, and concludes that the second method is the best method on distributed computing systems (e.g., a Beowulf cluster), whereas the third maintains the best load distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Three-dimensional mathematical modeling of local scour

TL;DR: In this article, the local scour holes are modeled with a modified Ashida-Michiue formula and a finite volume method based on a moving unstructured mesh is employed in the formulation, which is able to resolve the flow and sediment transport in complex geometries with changeable boundaries.

Overview of Sedimentation Engineering

TL;DR: The ASCE Manual on Sedimentation Engineering (Manual 0) as discussed by the authors is the most comprehensive manual on sedimentation engineering, focusing mainly on physical processes, measurements, modeling, and the practice of sedimentation Engineering, mainly in the context of rivers and inland water bodies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Longshore Sediment Transport—Field Data and Estimations Using Neural Networks, Numerical Model, and Empirical Models

TL;DR: Guner et al. as discussed by the authors proposed an alternative approach, namely, the use of an artificial neural network (ANN), for the estimation of longshore sediment transport (LST).
