Propagation of concentration waves in fixed-bed adsorptive reactors
TLDR
In this paper, the dynamic behavior of fixed beds in which nonlinear adsorption is coupled with chemical reaction is analyzed using the method of characteristics, where reversible reactions A → B (first, zero or second order) coupled with the nonlinear adorption of one or both species are treated.About:

Two solution methods for hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations in chemical engineering
TL;DR: In this paper, two mathematical tools for the solution of PDEs: the numerical method of characteristics and Lax-Wendroff schemes are reviewed and applied to the solutions of various problems: fixed-bed reactor for MTBE synthesis (system of semilinear equations), separation of xylene isomers (reducible system of quasi-linear equations) and adsorptive reactors (non-reducibility system of nonlinear equations).
