Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of modification of molecular structure on Raman spectral depolarization ratios: aqueous betaine (CH3)3NCH2CO2*29D2O versus (CH3)4NBr*29D2O.

TL;DR: Corroborative evidence of weakness of interaction between most surrounding D2O molecules and the Me3N+ portion of the zwitterion, derived from the O-D stretching region of the Raman spectrum, and implying the absence of symmetry in the solvation sheath, is discussed in Appendix A.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of Solutes in the Hydrogen Bonding of Water-Ethanol Mixtures

Masashi Hojo, +1 more
- 01 Jan 2008 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a scenario in which a group of people are living in a house with three roommates, and the house is uninhabited by any outside party.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for the importance of intermolecular coupling in the OD band's vibrational structure in deeply supercooled liquid D2O

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the Raman spectrum of pure liquid D 2 O at −27.0°C, which is 17°C lower than any previously reported spectrum of liquid D2 O. The liquid's OD stretch band displays a prominent feature which is clearly analogous to the ν 1 in-phase mode in D 2O ice Ih providing strong evidence that the structure of cold liquid D O's OD band is principally due to strong intermolecular coupling.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of chondrocyte source on the manufacturing reproducibility of human tissue engineered cartilage.

TL;DR: In this paper, the compressive, friction, and shear properties of human tissue engineered cartilage constructs due to the chondrocyte source were measured and the effect of manufacturing variability on construct mechanics is unknown.
