TLDR
The purpose of this paper is to highlight some recent enhancements that have been made to the Navier-Stokes code OVERFLOW, in three major areas: a multigrid method, for convergence acceleration; a lowMach preconditioning algorithm, for converge acceleration and solution quality improvement for low Mach number flows; and a matrix dissipation algorithm for solution quality improved.Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to highlight some recent enhancements that have been made to the Navier-Stokes code OVERFLOW. The enhancements we are concerned with are in three major areas: a multigrid method, for convergence acceleration; a lowMach preconditioning algorithm, for convergence acceleration and solution quality improvement for low Mach number flows; and a matrix dissipation algorithm for solution quality improvement. We will describe these methods and show examples of their efficacy.read more

HERMESH : a geometrical domain composition method in computational mechanics
Eguzkitza Bazar,Ane Beatriz +1 more
TL;DR: This work presents a detailed description of HERMESH which has been implemented in a high-performance computing computational mechanics code within the framework of the finite element methods and develops an automatic and topology-independent tool to compose independent meshes.

Iterative PNS Algorithms for Solving 3-D Supersonic Flows with Upstream Influences
TL;DR: In this article, two iterative parabolized Navier-Stokes (PNS) algorithms (called IPNS and TIPNS) have been developed to efficiently solve three-dimensional (3-D) supersonic viscous flowfields with upstream influences.

Vehicle Design of a Sharp CTV Concept Using a Virtual Flight Rapid Integration Test Environment
TL;DR: The Virtual Flight Rapid Integration Test Environment (RITE) as mentioned in this paper is a design environment that merges technologies from piloted simulations, computational fluid dynamics, wind-tunnel and flight test data at NASA Ames Research Center.

Experimental and Computational Analysis of Thick Flatback Wind Turbine Airfoils
TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental investigation of blunt trailing edge or flatback airfoils was conducted in the University of California, Davis Aeronautical wind tunnel, and the results of this investigation show that lift increases and the well-documented thick airfoil sensitivity to leading edge transition reduces with increasing trailing edge thickness.

An Introduction to Multigrid Methods
TL;DR: These notes were written for an introductory course on the application of multigrid methods to elliptic and hyperbolic partial differential equations for engineers, physicists and applied mathematicians, restricting ourselves to finite volume and finite difference discretization.

A diagonal form of an implicit approximate-factorization algorithm
Thomas H. Pulliam,D.S Chaussee +1 more
TL;DR: The modification transforms the coupled system of equations into an uncoupled diagonal form that requires less computational work and has an important effect on the application of implicit finite-difference schemes to vector processors.

Preconditioned methods for solving the incompressible low speed compressible equations
TL;DR: It is sown that the resultant incompressible equations form a symmetric hyperbolic system and so are well posed, and several generalizations to the compressible equations are presented which extend previous results.

A 3-D Chimera Grid Embedding Technique
TL;DR: A three-dimensional (3-D) chimera grid-embedding technique that simplifies the construction of computational grids about complex geometries by solution of the Euler equations for the transonic flow about a wing/body, wing/ body/tail, and a configuration of three ellipsoidal bodies is described.
