Receptor model-based source apportionment and ecological risk of metals in sediments of an urban river in Bangladesh

TLDR
In this article, the authors used positive matrix factorization (PMF) and absolute principal component score-multiple linear regression models (APCS-MLR) to identify promising sources of metals in sediment samples.

Ecotoxicological risk assessment for sediments of Çavuşlu stream in Giresun, Turkey: association between garbage disposal facility and metallic accumulation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors stress the possible potential toxic element (PTE) accumulation in the surface sediments of the Cavuslu Stream (CS), as well as examine the source identification of whether or not any association between garbage disposal facility (GDF) and ecotoxicity or human health risk in Giresun, Turkey.

Ecological risks and controlling factors of trace elements in sediments of dam lakes in the Black Sea Region (Turkey)

TL;DR: In this article , the authors analyzed 14 trace elements (TEs) in sediments of four dam lakes (Erfelek, Derbent, Suat Uğurlu and Saraydüzü) in the Black Sea Region of Turkey.

Ecological risks and controlling factors of trace elements in sediments of dam lakes in the Black Sea Region (Turkey)

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed 14 trace elements (TEs) in sediments of dam lakes and sediment properties (organic matter (OM) and pH) from four dam lakes (Erfelek, Derbent, Suat Ugurlu and Sarayduzu) in the Black Sea Region of Turkey, which are used for different purposes and located on different rivers or streams with different pollution levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pollution simulation and remediation strategy of a zinc smelting site based on multi-source information

TL;DR: In this article , a comprehensive study was dedicated to improving the understanding of the contamination condition of a smelting site by integrating multi-source information through 3D visualization techniques, which revealed that contaminated sites pose a significant risk to human health and the regional environment.

Development and evaluation of consensus-based sediment quality guidelines for freshwater ecosystems.

TL;DR: It was concluded that the consensus-based SQGs provide a reliable basis for assessing sediment quality conditions in freshwater ecosystems.

Heavy metal pollution in surface water and sediment: A preliminary assessment of an urban river in a developing country

TL;DR: In this article, the concentration and chemical fractionation of globally alarming six heavy metals (Cr, Ni, Cu, As, Cd and Pb) were measured in surface water and sediment of an urban river in Bangladesh.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental and ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in sediments of Nador lagoon, Morocco

TL;DR: In this article, heavy metal assessment in Nador lagoon (Mediterranean coast) was carried out using different environmental indices and compared with consensus-based sediment quality guidelines, showing that heavy metals occur in lagoon sediments largely due to the anthropogenic activities in the area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pollution characteristics, sources, and health risk assessment of human exposure to Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb pollution in urban street dust across China between 2009 and 2018.

TL;DR: The health risk assessment indicated that ingestion is the most important pathway of exposure to metal pollution in street dust for both children and adults, followed by dermal contact and inhalation, and the health risks for children were higher than those for adults.
